Laser rangefinder module, chosen by range
Board-level modules · 9 m to 18 km · published single-unit prices · updated 2026-10-23
Most selection pages start with price. Buyers usually start with a distance and a target. This table starts the same way: pick the range band you actually need, then check the blind zone, the interface, and the published single-unit price for that class.

Prices are the published single-unit tier (the 1–N piece band) as of 2026-10-23, taken from the public price page. Volume tiers are lower and are quoted per order. Long-range figures are stated against a 2.3 × 2.3 m reference target unless noted — compare the test condition, not the headline number.
Range bands at a glance
The same catalogue read across range bands instead of down a price list. Figures are the published single-unit table of 2026-10-23; the model page is the citable source for each class.

Three things that decide the fit, beyond range
- Blind zone, not maximum range. A 2 km module that cannot read below 4 m will not do terrain following at 0.3 m. If your application touches the ground, the 0.05 m classes (VB and H series) are the only ones that qualify.
- Supply and interface. The H series takes 9–36 V DC directly, which matters on a 24 V machine; the E and VB series want 3.3–5 V. Everything ships UART-TTL with a documented frame and checksum. There is no native analog or 4–20 mA output, and no native RS485 — a host-side transceiver solves the latter.
- Eye safety, if people are near the beam. 905 nm reaches a few kilometres cheaply; past that, 1535 nm is the eye-safe path and it costs more per metre. That step change is the largest single jump in the table.
Frequently asked questions
The same answers are published below as visible text and as FAQPage structured data, so the page and the markup cannot drift apart.
- How do I choose a range band?
- Start from the nearest target the module must read, not the farthest: LRF10VB ($10, 0.05–9 m, 5 cm blind) is a near-field class, while LR1000E2 ($80, 4–1,000 m, 4 m blind) starts further out. Pick the band that clears the working distance, then check supply and interface.
- What does the price ladder start at?
- LRF10VB ($10, 0.05–9 m), then LRF22VB ($12, 0.05–20 m), then LRF50VB ($70, 0.05–50 m); volume tiers are quoted per order.
- When does 1535 nm make sense?
- Past a few kilometres, or wherever people may be near the beam. LRF0105C ($500, ≥3,000 m on a 2.3 × 2.3 m target (≥4,000 m on a 60% building), ±2 m, ≤1 mrad, ≤29 ± 1 g) is the eye-safe entry, and LRF1830C ($7,000, ≥18,000 m) is the long end of the branch.
- Which interface and supply do the classes use?
- UART-TTL on the short-range classes, for example LRF50H ($100, 0.05–50 m, 5 cm blind), and RS-422 on LRF0610C ($1,000, ≥6,000 m, RS-422, ≤90 g). There is no native analog or 4–20 mA output.
What this page is not
It is not a comparison against every supplier, and it does not quote competitors' specifications from memory — if a number is not from our own catalogue, it is not here. If you are weighing us against a specific industrial instrument, the honest axis is usually board-level module vs cased instrument (housing, IP rating, analog output, local service contract), not model against model.
Source and correction policy
Every figure above comes from the published catalogue on 2026-10-23. Where two source documents disagree for a model, the model page states the conflict rather than picking one value, and the datasheet governs the order. If a number here stops matching the catalogue, that is a bug: write to tommy@mail.erdilrf.com and it will be corrected with the date noted.
